Engaging with Other People of Faith

As a global faith body representing some 600 million evangelicals in more than 140 countries, the World Evangelical Alliance regularly engages with organizations and groups from within the wider Christian tradition as well as those of other faiths. These meetings and dialogues seek to foster a better understanding between different Christian traditions and different faiths and, where appropriate, respond collaboratively to global issues of common interest, such as combating human trafficking or advocating for religious freedom.

The WEA distinguishes between two areas: its intrafaith engagement that includes meetings, dialogues and collaborative activities with groups within the wider Christian tradition, such as the Global Christian Forum, the Roman Catholic Church, the World Council of Churches and others.

The WEA’s interfaith relations includes engagement with non-Christian groups, such as Muslims, Jews, Hindus, and Buddhists, among others.

While always respectful of others’ perspectives and seeking common ground with people of all backgrounds, the WEA’s engagement is based on its evangelical convictions and core Biblical truths that are non-negotiable. It is on such a foundation that authentic dialogue and meaningful engagement can take place and agreements or differences can be established and respected, which ultimately serves the greater good.
